Upcoming Events & Fundraisers For “The Field Of Dreams” Playground
Do you have a wonderful old family recipe or a new one that you have tried that is just delicious? Or perhaps your young ones have a cute but maybe not so edible recipe she or he would like to share with the town? Also for all you who love the links, now you can get out on the course and at the same time help raise much needed funds for the “Field Of Dreams” playground. Well then, read this message from the good people working so hard to bring the “Field Of Dreams” into reality.
“We've got a few things going for the playground that we can really use your help on.
The first one is we are collecting recipes. It's not going to be an average, everyday cookbook. We are asking for a combination of usable recipes and then those cute fantasy recipes that your children make up. You know, like if you ask a young child how to make a turkey and he tells you to put it in the oven at 45 degrees for two minutes and slather it with cranberry sauce, those kinds of cute, keepsake moments. We would also like parents to include their family's favorite recipes. We are aiming toward a memorable keepsake as opposed to just a standard book of standard recipes. We need those who submit to include their name and their town, and if it is a child, their name and their age, too. People can just send them to Stacey by Feb. 21.
The second thing is our big golf tournament. We are having a Field of Dreams Playground Golf Tournament on May 17 at Montgomery Bell. It's a shotgun start from 8am-12pm. It's $70 a person which works out to $300 a team with four per team. We are also seeking hole sponsors for $100/hole. The deadline for registration is April 1. Those interested can call Monica Gossett at 615-797-3511 or email her at mmbjgossett@aol.com
More details will follow, but we are in the mood for it a good round of golf now. Especially since it's supposed to be 20 degrees tonight!
Also, we are actively seeking volunteers to help on our committees. We want people who will actively work on preparing for our build week on Sept. 16-23. We need people to help us with 12 different areas and there is a place for everyone in this project. We need everything from people to work on our fundraising committee to people who can help with gather tools and materials. We have a list of over 100 different types of tools (some in multiples) and machinery that we will need to borrow come Sept. 16-23. All the tools will be well cared for and tagged so we know who owns what tool. We are going to need food to feed 1200 volunteers during build week. The groundwork is in place, we just need to till the soil from now until September. This is a big project and it's going to take all of us to get it done! I am so excited and I want everyone to share in my excitement and give White Bluff and Dickson County a crown jewel!!!!
